The Mayan archeological site at Becan is one of the most impressive and least visited in Mexico. Most visitors to Xpujil are focussed on getting to the even more remote and extensive ruins of Calakmul, overlooking a spectacular experience on the town's doorstep.

It may seem that the rope descends over a precipice but it helped get me safely up the steep steps of Structure 9, way above the jungle and Structure 8.

I bumped into Constantine at Chicanna 2 hours earlier. He kindly gave me a lift to Becan and back into Xpujil town before continuing on his Mexican travels.
