My photos from my second day at The Great Escape festival 2018. Today I did a little less rushing around Brighton and was home by 9pm! Well I am probably the oldest present at many gigs and I do have to preserve my energy!
I decided to plant myself for a couple of hours at Komedia to listen to some Dutch artits. This is Pitou.
Nana Adjoa was next up with a strong solo set at Komedia
Pip Blom were third on stage at Komedia and this was a very likely entertaining set.
I was able t get close up behind the band for this photo of Pip Blom at Komedia
The final Dutch band I would catch at Komedia were Canshaker Pi
Again from my favourite angle, Canshaker Pi at Brighton Komedia
During The Great Escape festival one can't help but bump into many musicians unceremoniously carting their gear around Brighton.
To get into The Walrus you have to walk through a narrow gap besides the stage. This is Kamille.
Kamille ducked towards me as I entered The Walrus and I was fortuitously in the right place!
Brooke Bentham down fom South Shields played her emotional melodies at Patterns
Billy Carter is not the obvious name for a South Korean band but here they are at Volks Cafe on the Brighton seafront
With no write up in The Great Escape programme I took a punt on Crewel Intentions at The Haunt. Curiously the place was packed for this band which was first onto stage that evening. This is Palma Violets’ Chilli Jesson's second band.
It seems that Crewel Intentions rely on word of mouth, and this was a great atmosphere for this set.
At another musical extreme this was Rina Sawayama at the Wagner Hall, the nearest I would get to Radio 1!
Away from the stage Rina Sawayama is a graduate of Cambridge Univerisity with a degree in politics. Less surprisingly perhaps she is also a successsful published model.
